soccer

I'm thankful to be playing the sport I love (well not at the moment...) in a country that is also crazy about it. My team just won our last Pokal game, which means we are one of the eight last teams in all of Germany!

thankful for: stitches

I would say that I am not prone to accidents, but 2 times in the hospital for stitches in the last 3 1/2 weeks isn't a good record...
Three stitches later and alles klar.
 The culprit...
What can I say... I have a rock solid hand and it broke the knife.
Just kidding, it was already broken and I was trying to fix it.
Fail.

The doctor said I barely missed my tendon.
,,Glück im Unglück.''
("luck in unluckiness")

I'm thankful for stitches and all the doctors and nurses who have taken care of me lately.
And that I only lost a little blood in the process of both, not an arm or a leg.

Schwarzwald

I'm thankful to live in the Black (Schwarz-) Forest (wald).
Off in the distance are the French Vosges (a mountain range).

Gerber, Gherkin, Girdle, GERDIN

I'm thankful for these three sweeties, who bring so much joy into my life. I can't think of any other time that I laugh more than when I am with these fools.
I'm thankful for my mom who taught me how to be a strong, independent woman.
I'm thankful for my dad who taught me the importance of common sense and how to put a roof on a house (literally).
Honestly I don't like animals, but Avalanche has been in our family since we got her in Hawaii. She has been a part of my life for the last 13 years. My parents had to put her down a couple months ago because she was having health issues. I never thought I would cry about losing a dog!?
My sisters somehow talked my parents into getting this stuffed animal last year.
Trust me, I won't cry about him!
This is an oldie, but a goodie.

I love my family and am so thankful for them.
See you people in 5 weeks!

Englisch

Heute bin ich dankbar, dass ich als Amerikanerin alles machen kann in Deutschland.
Today I am thankful that I an American can get by in Germany.

I respect the Germans and their crazy complicated language, which is why I am trying to learn the laguage, but I am always thrilled to see things like this:
and it's heartwarming to hear English songs on the radio.

I went to look for eyeglasses today and in one of the shops I said, "I just want to look," (in Deutsch of course) and she said (also in Deutsch), "What language do you speak?" (My American accent gives me away EVERY time.) I said English. She said, ok let's try it and we spoke the whole time in English.

Unfortunantely my English is getting a little schlecht.
Sometimes when I try to form sentences in English, I canNOT think of the right word, so I use a Deutsch word. (see the sentence above)

and the Deutsch Bahn to take me to beautiful places so I can ride.

and my cool new lights!

thankfulness

I am going to try it... 30 days of thankfulness.
No promises (as I am writing "day 1" at 23.59 Uhr aka 11:59 PM).

(happy November!)

I'm thankful that my meniscus is fixed.
What a great feeling to have a healthy, active body, which I have taken for granted for far too long.
I'm looking forward to start running again (step 1) and playing soccer (step 2).
(my stitches came out last Friday, but this picture is definitely more dramatic than the current state of my knee, sorry to those who don't like cool pictures like this)

Ägypten

Get ready for a picture overload...

Walking from our long-term parking spot to the terminal...
At the Denver International Airport it's a 10 min trip on a bus to the terminal!
We were really early, so I took a picture of just about everything.
But cool! How often do you see bicycles at an airport?
photoshoot

There is a garden on the Switzerland side of the airport; cherry, apple, und "Wunder" trees.
We parked on the French side, it's nearly half the price, which could be why there's no garden on the French side.
And when I say French, Switzerland side, I really mean it. There is a gate seperating the two.
This could be a picture of: Germany, France, or Switzerland. I'm not really sure which.
The Alps!

Africa!
Hallo, Simi! Look out the window or trade seats with me!
Simi has ear problems when the plane leaves, these help!
Eygpt, we're here!

View from our room.
Where we ate and in the back is where we "slid."
It was very empty!
I wanted to try... Maybe next time.
The first day we went to the Sea I ran to take a picture of the camels, little did I know they walked back and forth on the beach all day trying to sell camel rides.
Just in case we needed a little fresh air...
My dad taught me to be a very cautious traveller so the first night when we got there I was not too happy to hear that they were going to hold our passports overnight while the copier was being fixed.
The next day we were able to pick them up, but I was a little freaked out by the whole thing!
Speaking of passports, a man in a shop asked where we were from, "I said, USA." He said "Really? You're the first American I've ever met." Then he went on to tell me that I can use drugs or do other things that are against the law and when I show the police my American passport, it's all ok.
"It's like gold!"
Got it!
No roof! Which works just fine since there is never any precipitation!
WOW! That's embarrassing!
Typical Deutsch Frühstück, aber crazy way to eat!
 Skip-Bo!
The water was totally clear!
And then Simi made it cloudy!

Don't step on those!
 Underwater brain.
 I snorkled in that!

Skip-Bo during the halftime break of the football game.
 Don't drink the water!
We had our bands for only a week, but it looks like I had mine for a month...
